Obituary for Leonard J. Dykman

DYKMAN, Leonard J. – 77, of Wyckoff went to be with his Lord on September 30, 2016 on his 55th Wedding Anniversary. Born in Prospect Park he has lived in Wyckoff for the past 40 years.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was the owner of Dykman and Dykstra Painting & Wallcovering in Wyckoff.
An active member of Unity Christian Reformed Church formerly Second Christian Reformed Church, Len served as both Deacon and Elder at both churches as well as a member of both their men’s choir groups. Len was President of the Christian Burial Fund and served several times on the Board of Directors of the Eastern Christian School Association. A long- time volunteer at Ditto, Len loved fishing, golfing, refinishing furniture and gardening, especially taking care of his precious “Dalia” flowers.

Beloved husband of 55 years of Betty (nee Vandergoot) Dykman of Wyckoff.
Devoted father of Karen Noordeloos and her husband Steve, Susan D’Ambra and her husband Dennis, David Dykman and his wife Mary Beth and Lynn Kinahan and her husband Nick.
Loving grandfather of Casey, Mitchel, Mallory, Kelly, Charlotte, Madison, Nicholas, Joshua, Sean, Jonathan and Jessica.
Dear brother-in-law of David Vandergoot and his wife Beverly and Janet Morales and her husband Tim.
Len is also survived by 4 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes.
Funeral Services Wednesday 11:00 AM at Unity Christian Reformed Church, 339 N. 11th Street, Prospect Park, NJ.


In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Len’s memory to the Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Avenue, North Haledon, NJ 07508 or the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
