FRASCOGNA, Joseph Neil – 35, of North Haledon, New Jersey, passed away on November 11, 2016 in his woodworking shop.
Joseph was born on August 19, 1981. He graduated from Manchester Regional High School in 1999 and followed in his father's footsteps, pursuing a career as a carpenter and woodworker.
Joseph proudly incorporated his own business, Custom Creative Woodwork, in 2005. He was renowned for the custom cabinetry, entry doors, crown molding and furniture he created in his woodworking shop in Great Falls Industrial Park, located in the historic district of Paterson, NJ. As Great Falls evolved from an industrial space to an artistic one, the Art Factory, Joseph segued into more creative endeavors, collaborating with fellow artists and exhibiting his work at galleries in Jersey City and the annual Paterson Art Walk.
Joseph's hobbies included paintballing, dirt bike riding, attending concerts, and a keen interest in middle eastern geopolitics. He was known by his friends as an exceptionally talented carpenter with a clever mind and a kind soul. He lit up every jobsite, art exhibition and home he walked into with his infectious optimism and witty sense of humor. Always generous with his time and effort, he was the type of man that would give you the plaid shirt off his back.
Joseph is survived by the remaining four Flying Frascognas, devoted parents Neil and Georgene, loving brothers Peter and Christopher, Christopher's partner, Nicole, and many caring aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Saturday, November 19 at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Rd in Franklin Lakes, NJ. The funeral service, also at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, will be held on Sunday at 11:30am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to two not-for-profit organizations that were near to Joseph's heart. STAGES is a youth theater program sponsored by Art House, www.ArtHouseProductions.org. BREAKING THE CYCLE is a program providing education and construction skill development for youthful offenders under St. Paul's Community Development Corp. www.stpaulscdcnj.org.
