Obituary for Patricia Ann Pirozzi (O'Donnell)

PIROZZI, Patricia Ann (nee O’Donnell)- 85, of Franklin Lakes passed away on November 29, 2016. Born in West Hazelton, PA in 1931 she lived in Clifton before moving to Franklin Lakes in 1961.

After graduating from Kings County Nursing School, Patricia worked as an OBGYN nurse at the hospital in Brooklyn.

Patricia’s life can be measured by the people who surrounded her. Together with her beloved (late) husband of 61 years, Dr. Michael James , they started a family. She was the faithful mother of Dr. Patrick (Rosemarie) Pirozzi, Maria Pirozzi, Michael (Jenny) Pirozzi, Mark Pirozzi (Diane Morrell), Phillip (Diane) Pirozzi, Margaret (Nick) Matro, Paula Pirozzi, Mathew (Carole) Pirozzi and Peter (Jolie) Pirozzi. She is also the dear sister of Joseph O’Donnell, Matilda ‘Bobbie’ Gallagher and Nancy Sexton.

As an active parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament, Patricia spent countless hours fundraising and working with the Little Sisters of the Poor. She sat as a Chairwoman for the Women’s Auxiliary of the Passaic County Medical Board and as the Chairwoman of the of St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary in Paterson where she organized a number of fundraisers, beef steaks and auctions.

Patricia is the adored grandmother of Dr. Kelly & Dr. Jeff McAlister, Michael James III, Angela, Patrick, Patricia, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, Danielle, Carly, Brianna, Deirdre and Brooke and the great-grandmother of Reilly Rose, Patricia could often be found in the kitchen cooking up dinner for that night.

She was a member of the Indian Trail Club where she enjoyed endless hours on the tennis courts and in paddle tournaments. She enjoyed rounds of golf with her husband and sons at the High Mountain Golf Club where she held a membership. Patricia enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and friends but nothing pleased her more than sitting on the back porch enjoying her family.

Patricia is joining her husband, Dr. Michael James who predeceased her last September. We hope that they have found a new back porch to enjoy while looking down on their family.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday December 4th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Funeral services Monday 9:30 at the funeral home follow by a 10:00 am Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment Christ The King Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Patricia’s memory to Little Sisters of the Poor, 140 Shepherd Lane, Totowa, NJ 07512 or Covenant House.
