Obituary for George W Miller
MILLER, George W. – 89, of Wyckoff passed away on April 9, 2017.
Born in North Haledon he has lived in Wyckoff for the past 65 years.
He served his country honorably in the United States Merchant Marines. Prior to his retirement in 1985 he was first a lineman and then the Division Transportation Supervisor with PS&G in Clifton. After his retirement he worked at Miller’s Saxophone shop in North Haledon. George was a member of the High Mountain Presbyterian Church in Franklin Lakes and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of North Haledon. George began the Wyckoff Band Shell Fund and completed the project in 1986. He was the president of the Wyckoff Municipal Band from 1985-1997. George was a baritone saxophone player at Hawthorne High School, the Wyckoff Band, and with his son Paul’s band.
Beloved husband of the late of Edythe Miller (nee Kievit).
Devoted Father of Dr. George Miller, Jr. and his wife Carol of Wayne and Paul K. Miller and his wife Dawn Daffinee of Hawthorne.
Loving grandfather of Jennifer Daffinee of Texas
Dear brother of the late Phillip and William Miller.
The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes.
Funeral Services Thursday 10:00 am at the funeral home.
Interment Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
