Obituary for Marie Teitsma (Pruiksma)

TEITSMA, Marie (nee Pruiksma) – 91, of North Haledon passed away on May 22, 2017. Born in Fair Lawn on February 8, 1926, she lived in Fair Lawn until 1948, when she married Bud Teitsma. In 1944 she graduated from East Side High School, and for the next 8 years worked in the Van Dyk Furniture Company in Paterson. They lived in various towns in New Jersey and in 1990 retired to live in Wayne, New Jersey. In 1996 Bud passed away, and in 2010, Marie moved to The Holland Christian Home.

Marie was a devoted mother to four children; Russ and Robin Teitsma, Judy and John Caffiero, Betty Lou and Craig Schafer and Marianne and Jeff La Marco. Loving grandmother to 8; Russ Teitsma Jr. and Pinki Bhatt, Craig and Julie Teitsma, Jennifer and Pastor Karl Records also Michael and Scott Schwaner, Christina Schafer and James and Steven La Marco.
Also 7 great-grandchildren; Isaac, Benjamin and Samuel Records, Madison Marie and Jacob Teitsma and Chloe and Bryce Teitsma.
She was predeceased by her sisters; Joan Callahan, Agnes Meeter and her husband Jack. Survived by a brother-in-law, Jim Callahan in Florida. Also several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Marie was a member of Faith Community Christian Reformed Church of Wyckoff, doing some volunteer work there, as well as volunteering at the Corner Closet, de Sneop Winkel in the Christian Health Care Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Holland Home or the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat.

Memorial Services will be held at the Holland Home on Saturday July 8 at 3:00 PM
