Elisabeth "Betty" Abridello (nee DeSisto), 73, of Hawthorne, formerly of Haledon, entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2017.
Born in Newark on October 14, 1943, Betty was a graduate of East Orange High School and Essex School of Business, and a member of the Kappa Phi sorority. She worked as a secretary in the legal department at William Paterson University, Wayne, and later served as vice president and co-owner of Scientific Termite & Pest Control, Haledon. In her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and painting.
An active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hawthorne, she was beloved for her kindness, honesty, positivity, generosity, devotion to her faith, and quiet strength.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Faust DeSisto (2014), and her husband of more than 48 years, Anthony J. Abridello (2015). She is survived by daughter Alicia Daly and her husband, Mike, of Hawthorne; her mother, Susan DeSisto of Brick Township; granddaughter Ashley Rowett and her husband, Anthony, of Semmes, Ala.; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Paul Rowett III and Landry James Rowett; brother Eric DeSisto and his wife, Camille, of Manchester Township; and her loving grandpuppy, Yogi.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Cremation was private.
